Search top results

Find top artist, track, playlist, and user matches for a query. Returns basic identity and display data in source order, without enriched metrics. A single requested type uses its dedicated provider-ranked result list. Omitted or multiple types use the mixed top results and then filter by the requested types. Fewer items than the limit may be returned, including none. Generated mixes and unsupported entity types are excluded. This endpoint exposes no pagination or total count. Regional context is best effort and may differ when a fallback connection is used. Use playlist search for filtering stored playlist data and keyword search for stored keyword research.

Query Params
string
required
length between 1 and 200

Search text. Leading and trailing whitespace is removed; blank values are rejected.

string
^[a-zA-Z]{2}$
Defaults to us

Supported two-letter regional context, using the keyword autocomplete market allowlist. Case-insensitive and returned in lowercase. Unsupported codes are rejected. Requested context does not guarantee regional ranking.

integer
1 to 50
Defaults to 10

Maximum candidate count requested from the selected native type list, or from mixed top results for omitted or multiple types. Returned items never exceed this limit; mix exclusions can reduce the count.

types
array of strings
length ≥ 1
Defaults to artist,track,playlist,user

Comma-separated entity types. Case and whitespace are normalized; duplicates are removed. Empty or unsupported types are rejected. A single type selects its native result list. Omitted or multiple types retain mixed top-results behavior and post-fetch type filtering.
