API Terms & Rules

By accessing or using the artist.tools API (the “API”), you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and rules. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not access or use the API.

1. Access and Revocation

artist.tools reserves the right to revoke, limit, or suspend your access to the API at any time and for any reason, with or without notice.
Your access may be restricted if your usage violates these terms, harms the platform, creates a security or operational risk, or creates a competing interest with artist.tools.

2. Permitted and Prohibited Data Use

For purposes of these terms:

“API Data” includes all data retrieved from the API and any data, analysis, metrics, reports, recommendations, or other outputs derived from or materially based on that data.
“Monetization” means charging a fee, receiving advertising or sponsorship revenue, or receiving other compensation for access to, display of, or functionality materially powered by API Data, whether offered separately or bundled into a broader product, service, client engagement, or paid offering.

Subject to these terms and the limits of your developer plan, you may use API Data for internal research, analytics, strategy, planning, and decision support, including internal business use, provided that the use does not involve Monetization or otherwise violate these terms.

Internal use. You may use API Data within your own organization for research, analysis, planning, strategy, decision-making, and improving your internal operations, campaigns, artists, playlists, products, or services. Internal use is permitted even when it supports a business purpose, provided that API Data is not Monetized, redistributed, or used in another manner prohibited by these terms.
Limited storage. You may temporarily store or cache API Data only as reasonably necessary to fulfill API requests or operate an otherwise permitted integration. Long-term storage, historical datasets, reference datasets, indexes, archives, lookup systems, or other retained collections that replace or reduce the need to request current data from the API require a separate written commercial or enterprise agreement with artist.tools.
Public display. You may display limited, non-bulk API Data to an end user or the public as part of an otherwise permitted use, provided that the display is not Monetized, does not act as a substitute for artist.tools, and complies with the attribution requirements in Section 3.
Monetization requires a separate agreement. You may not Monetize API Data unless expressly authorized under a separate written commercial or enterprise agreement with artist.tools. This includes using API Data to materially power a paid, subscription-based, freemium, advertising-supported, sponsored, or otherwise compensated product, feature, report, recommendation, service, or client deliverable.
No training, testing, or validation. Unless expressly authorized under a separate written agreement with artist.tools, you may not use API Data to train, fine-tune, test, validate, benchmark, calibrate, evaluate, or improve any artificial intelligence system, machine-learning model, algorithm, scoring system, dataset, decision-making system, or other internal or external system.
No systematic collection. You may not systematically query, enumerate, crawl, scrape, harvest, or otherwise use any endpoint—including search, filtering, sorting, or pagination functionality—to collect, reconstruct, mirror, index, or ingest API Data in bulk or over time. Search endpoints are intended for legitimate queries and must not be used as a bulk export or data-ingestion mechanism. Remaining within applicable rate limits does not permit this activity.
No redistribution. You may not sell, resell, license, sublicense, syndicate, redistribute, or provide API Data as a standalone product, API, feed, download, bulk file, dataset, or other data-delivery service. Limited public display permitted under these terms does not authorize raw-data redistribution or bulk access.
No competing commercial services. You may not use API Data to build, operate, or offer to third parties a product or service whose primary purpose is to replicate, replace, or compete with artist.tools or provide substantially similar data access or functionality. Internal tools are permitted when used in accordance with these terms and are not used to reconstruct a persistent substitute for the artist.tools API.
Commercial and enterprise uses. Monetization, long-term storage, historical datasets, model training or evaluation, bulk access, data feeds, custom endpoints, higher limits, or any method of accessing or interfacing with API Data that is not provided by the standard documented API requires express authorization under a separate written commercial or enterprise agreement with artist.tools. Payment for API access or enrollment in a developer plan does not itself grant any of these rights.

3. Attribution & Branding

Unless a separate written agreement with artist.tools expressly states otherwise, any API Data displayed to an end user or the public must include clear and reasonably prominent attribution stating “Data provided by artist.tools” with a visible link to artist.tools. The attribution must appear on the same page or screen as the API Data.
Providing attribution does not authorize Monetization, redistribution, systematic collection, or any other use prohibited by these terms.
Required attribution does not imply a partnership, endorsement, or official integration with artist.tools.
You may use the artist.tools name solely for accurate attribution required by these terms. Any other use of the artist.tools name, logo, or branding elements requires prior written permission.

4. Rate Limits and Acceptable Use

Automated use of the API is permitted through documented endpoints and authentication methods, subject to the rate limits and other restrictions of your developer plan.
Usage of the API is subject to rate limits defined by your developer plan.
Usage patterns that reasonably indicate systematic extraction, collection, ingestion, reconstruction, or use inconsistent with an endpoint’s intended purpose may result in immediate suspension or revocation of access, even when individual requests remain within stated rate limits.
Attempts to bypass rate limits, pagination restrictions, access controls, or other technical limitations are prohibited and may result in immediate suspension or revocation of access.

5. No Warranty

The API is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy, or availability of any particular endpoint.
We may modify or deprecate endpoints, data structures, or response formats at any time.

6. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the API after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.

7. Legal

By signing up for a developer account and/or using the API, you accept and agree to these terms.
You are solely responsible for complying with any laws or regulations applicable to your use of the API.
